Agrupamento de Escolas D.Dinis is a cluster, it means that under the same board of direction there are 8 schools, with students from Kindergarten (3 years old) to the 12th grade (18th years old). The cluster is situated in Santo Tirso, a modern and small city on the outskirts of Porto, the second main city of the country.

The school where the students of this project study is called Escola Básica de Agrela e Vale do Leça and it is the second school of the cluster. It is situated in a rural area and the students are aged from 9 to 15 years old (from the 5th to the 9th grade).

This school has 20 years and was already considered a school of affection. It means that the ones studying and working there are like a family. It is not a very big school, it has about 400 students and 40 teachers and it is a secure and peaceful place. There are some students with special needs, but all students are a priority.

It is a dynamic school, involved in several and interesting projects. We have eTwinning and Erasmus+ projects, an eTwinning School Label and an Ecological Flag. We are involved in projects related to the environment and students are able to study and work issues concerning climate changes, citizenship and social inclusion.

We have a small museum which includes the prizes we have already won, some old objects that belonged to the school or were offered to us, some scientific material and so on... We also have four handlooms that were used for weaving some years ago. The industry of weaving was part of the history of the region where the school belongs.

Our students also have the opportunity to complete musical studies in any instrument they chose, and they have some sports activities available. On their curriculum there is the study of foreign languages such as English and French.

In our main school, which integrates students until the 12th grade, they can also study other foreign languages such as German and Spanish and they have the possibility to participate in some extra-curriculum activities such as theatre or crafts.
